Title: Aftermarket Air Filter
Post by: Cosmosdan on September 21, 2016, 08:18:37 PM
To date I have not found a filter marked for use with the Z6. I did email Uni with the size and stated there was interest in finding a filter that would work. Nothing for a response from them. I have some ideas on how to make a clamp on filter work, but I have too many projects going on right now and have to focus on a few to make room for my "backlog". I welcome any ideas on this or links to some filters by size as I see filters that look like the OE one but can't seem to find specs on anything.

Got any pics of the OE filter? and maybe post those specs and we will go on the hunt...lol Gota be something out there..even if it has to be.."adjusted" a bit.

4 3/8 Dia by 4 3/4 long closed on one end open on the other. A plastic cage sits inside with a nub that pokes through the closed end to be held by a slide in holder and the cover. I will see if I have time to take pictures after I fixed some pooplaris this weekend.

Hello All,

Well when I first came to this forum I spent hours reading all the topics. Before my SXS came to my house I had parts on the way. The UNI filter used on the 800's is the filter I ordered. When it came to installing it would not go around the rim in the air box. However it did insert inside the rim. I put some grease around the sleeve and mounted. Lucky enough the factory holder held it in place. After 3 all day rides hear is a pic of the air box. (note my pre-filter is not working well). Plans in the near future for a different type of pre-filter.

NOTE; the air box may be dirty but from the air box to the engine was spotless. ;D

I always worry about filtration..or the lack there of.. as it's the #1 killer of these...and any off-road engine. Whatever you do, take no chances, make sure there is no possible way any connection can move or bypass under any condition and always use the proper...and best foam filter oils.

Coloradocrawler, once you get that second filter on the intake your airbox will look like this when opened. This is mine after over 200 dusty miles:

Wow, I'm going to ride mine a bit more and check it.  Want to see if the additional filter make as good of a difference as yours.

Well it looks like that twin air filter is for the suzuki vinson 500, eiger 400, and the kingquad 450. I had some money on Amazon to spend so I ordered the Hiflo one as it was in stock and seems to be well made. I will give an update after I get it installed.

Mine? It's actually the one CFMoto approved to use on the ZForce 800 before they came out with their own. I wanted something that wouldn't mess with the warranty at the time. It has about the same surface area as the Unifilter.

The 800? This one is just a sleeve type.

Hey Cosmo,
Any news about the new air filter? If it works I will be changing mine out ASAP.

Awesome ...

I hope it works out. Having my UNI filter pushed in the rim is making me nervous. It is holding well, but for how long is the question.

Came in early. It fits a bit tight, but it's new. I will give it two thumbs up and recommend the Suzuki filters as a replacement.

Will that lower surface require seal grease?

The lower lip goes around a cage. Then the tab on the filter box holds it flush against the intake port.

I got lucky and my local dealer has the right UNI filter in stock. Will pick it up on Thursday.

So for Z6 the replacement Air filters are

HiFlo Filtro P/N HFF3022   ( www.hiflofiltro.com )

UNI Filter P/N NU-2483ST    ( www.unifilter.com )

Twin Air P/N 153908     ( www.twinair.com )

CFMoto Filter P/N 0180-112001

Any other?

Hi all

Just Received today my HIFLO Filtro P/N HFF3022. Nice one but looks to me a little short for the Z6 Air Filter support. How I am traveling I could not test it yet. Anyone using could share how it goes?

Was making a little more of Research and I found another alternative from UNI:

PN NU-2487ST (Yellow) instead of NU-2483ST (Red)

Has anyone tryed that filter?

I used one. It's a bit tight but will fit. Poke the cage tip through and wrap the filter around the base.

I'm using the red.... works great so far. I keep the factory one oiled in a bag with me just in case.
