Hey all -

New member.  Recently came into a CForce 400 deal i couldnt refuse.  Works great and looking forward to riding it, but the fuel sensor is not working.  I looked and there is a cut wire at the rear.

Anyways, im looking to see where the Green/Light Blue wire coming out of the rear wiring harness is supposed to terminate...   Im pretty sure its the fuel sensor wire as this is the only instrument not working and it mostly matches on the wiring diagram.  It doesnt have a connector plug on it (it probably was cut before connector).  But does anybody know where this wire attaches to?   Im attaching a picture of the wire in question and some of the wiring diagram thats in the manual.  Hope you guys can see it.

Any help is appreciated... Many thanks!!

Re: unknown wire at the rear, likely the fuel sensor. Where does it attach?

if you have warrantylet your dealer fix it.

The fuel tank in a 40/450 is between the seat and the handlebar under the plastic cover. Where the gas cap is. Not sayng it' impossible that it is the fuel gage but wierd place to find the wire.

onn the picture it looks like you have 2 "big" cables like for a winch or a starter (most likly a winch) one idea that the thin cable is for the controll of the wich (in and out signal) Don't see any other use for such thick cables then a winch.

Only if you are feeling lucky ....

Does the fuel gauge react when you touch them together?

<Use Caution>

Could give you better advice if there was a readable wiring diagram available.

thanks for your input... yep totally agree weird palce to have a fuel gauge wire.  And you are right,  that thicker wire is for a winch.

Lol havent tried connecting the wires YET.......

Wiring diagram is too small for me to take a picture, but i did find one online for the 500 that seems very similar.  I dont know if that helps at all...

Ya, I had already found that. Still too blurry to read.

A good wiring diagram will have all the color codes for the wires and will tell the story pretty quickly, but only if they are legible.

For my 2017 Z8, the fuel gauge wiring to the connector is Blue-with-White-stripe/Green-with-Black-stripe, and after the connector (to the level sending unit in the tank) is Blue-with-White-stripe/Green.

Green/Black is power. Blue/White goes back to the fuel gauge. The gauge measures the difference in voltage between Green/Black and Blue/White. This was the only circuit with Blue/White.

Your photo looks like it could be Blue/White (L/W) and Green (G) before and after the connector, if I'm reading the blur correctly.

Can't depend 100% on color consistency between models, but ....  I would expect the color coding on the diagrams to be the same.

You can remove the cover over the gas tank and check if any wires are cutt.

Remove the sides the instrument panel and then the cover over the gas tank then you can see the cables to the fuel sensor and the fuel pump.
