Mystery Intake
« on: October 02, 2022, 07:39:16 AM »
I just purchased a 2020 CForce 400 and I am taking the time to make sure it's cleaned, maintained and ready to go.

Here is my question:  Under the front access cover there is some sort of air intake, but I don't see it referenced in the owner's manual--what is this?  It's clearly not directly connected to the air box under the seat.  Also, there is a small screen over this intake.  Any tips on getting this back on?

Being on the front with just a screen on it makes it likely to be the CVT air intake.

Thank you.  Not being familiar with CVT's I did not know they had an air intake.

Most ATVs have the intakes up front somewhere and discharge in back like under the seat...

Yeap the 400 has the CVT air intake right under the dashboard cluster. That is a pretty good spot for the intake as you get clean air and it is also mounted very high off from the ground to not get water in it.  The exhaust air pipe of the CVT is actually on the back left side behind the tire.  Be careful as you might actually get water in your CVT transmission if you get that pipe underwater which I have done a couple of times in some mud and water crossings.  Funny thing is that I got water in through that pipe, the exhaust one and not through the intake pipe.
