Brake Light Removal on 2017 400 Single
« on: March 19, 2022, 06:26:44 PM »
Been attempting to swap out tail/brake light assembly. 2 nuts and wiring removed, but damn assembly won't come out. Doesn't budge, stays put, am I missing something? Or is there a secret code?   ;D

With CFM there is always something else...something you can't see or get to easily. Hopefully someone here has the answers you seek.

yup, seems about right. Just think it's dumb to have an extra unnecessary step to even change a frickin bulb too. :o

I fitted and LED light bulb on the tail light assembly on mine.  Took out the 2 nuts and was not able to pull it apart so I spayed a lot of WD40 all around the red lenses, let it sit there for like 30 mins and used a piece of wood to tap the screws with a hammer.   It was tough but it finally came apart with no damage at all.  Looks like they use some kind of adhesive from the factory to assemble that light.

Now that sounds like a solid plan.

Yep, once you break them free the first time all the others are much easier to disassemble.

It worked, almost fell out. Had some "goo gone" squirted it in around tail light and left it for a few days. *more like a week, :o I forgot about it*
And with the heat and weather, I checked it today and pressed lightly on the bolts and it almost fell out. So they indeed used some sort of adhesive to secure the light assembly. Now I know the code ;D. LMAO

Yea I just use the original bolts and the lens stays in place without any glue or other sealant.
Does your brake light works properly?  When I use the hand brake ass soon as I squeeze the brake the quad slows down and the brakes are engaged yet it takes about half of the travel for the light to come.  When I use the pedal I have to press it harder to get the brakes and again it slows down way before my brake light comes on.
