Average fuel consumption?
« on: September 23, 2019, 07:16:31 AM »
I got brand new c450l and im noticing that it is using quite a lot of fuel?

Like im still in break in period so i drive it on mostly flat roads some gravel and asphalt.

I dont go over 40km/h very rarely and usually around 20-30 kph. Always in H gear and rear wheel drive.

I also have power limit on 20ks for first 300km.

And my average fuel consumption seems to be like 15l per 100km

That is quite a lot i think. Probably under hard riding mud and stuff its gonna be even more?

When you are dine with tyhe break in the fuel consumption will go down a bit.   Ride fater and you will use less fuel per kilometer

For example on my 520 (almoust same machine) in 20kph the rpm are about 4k and in 50 the rpm are about 5k. when you drive iin 20-30 kph the cvh haen't started to pull so much yeat so you have increased thge rpm but not "shifted in to higher gear"(like if you drive your car and still are in first or second gear but rev a loot) as you increase the speed over 30 the cvt start pulling kmore and "shift upp  gear" but the rpm's are almoust the same.

I use about 0,7-0,75 liters per 10km when driving on roads and city driving (i have road tires on) and whit stock ofroad tires i think it was about 0,8 liter per 10km. can get under 0,7 liters per 10km when i drive on "country" roads and not stuck in city traffick (can drive atleast 40 km/h + most of the time) It uyes about the same amount of fuel even when i drive hard and agresivly on roads it stays about 0,7 liters per 10km. I think it is becaue i have atleat 40km/h so the cvt shifts out more.

Tire preasure also impact your ful consumption low air preasure mean more resistance on roads and increase fuel consumption

test drive faster and se whats happen. use your trip counter and a gax station liter counter to calculate the fuel consumption. because the fuel gage do show empty before it's empy

Yeah that makes sense.

I have offroad tires with pretty low pressure just 0.6 bar.

And yeah i did use that method to fill to full then drive for 50km then fill up to full again.

0,6 bar are not super low when talking about atv tires, 0,5-0,4 bar are no problem on stock tires when you mainly driv offroad and want the tires to flex much. if you have bedlcok wheels 0,4-0 bar are used preasure (depending on tires)

I know this is an old post but for any other forum members that may check it.  The CFmoto gas gauge, isn't exactly reliable, meaning, it will show empty, but if you pull the cap and look in the tank, it could still be half full.  Here in the northwest riding in steep rocky terrain in 4 low, and once in a while hitting 2 high, we can go around 60-75 miles on a tank.  But i have now modified both our atvs with extended range tanks.  I did this, because, last year we were on an Alltrails app loop and we took a wrong turn.  That wrong turn took us down this very rocky steep grade.  We were zoomed way out on the app.  Anyhow that mistake took us an additional 40 miles off track because we couldn't get back up the hill we came down.  Nothing to winch to in the desert.  We had a 2.5 gal gas can and a 1.3 gal rotopax.  We made it back to the truck just as one of the atv's ran out of gas loading it onto the trailer.  Not a good feeling.  Later using a 5 gal gas can in the heat of summer, totally not safe.  The extended range tanks have been great for us and we have now used them on three trips.  Very nice when you are overlanding on ATV's in the wilderness and have long stretches between gas stations.
