Automatic reverse lights
« on: October 10, 2020, 10:49:55 PM »
I have a new 2020 Cforce 450L and love it but the only thing missing is some reverse or backup lights.  Is there any way to fit some leds in the back and run the wires to the trailer power socket to get the lights to turn on automatically when I shift the ATV to reverse? Is there an easier way? Does anyone have the wiring diagram of the trailer power socket? Any other ideas to do this?

To my knowledge all CFM trailer sockets only have tail light, brake light and neutral. No back-up light. You can install a simple system using the gear selector unit with a ground-triggered relay though. Here's the diagram:

Thanks, I thought that because the power socket is a 7 pin, it had all the life terminals.    Gotta be honest, I have no clue what im looking at on your diagram so its not going to be a DIY project as I lack all knowledge,  I better take it to the shop for a qualify electrician to figure it out.

I'll take another look at a wiring diagram to see if maybe there is more to one of these plugs. May be.

Looking ate the 400/450's wiring diagram it does use more pins then many of the others or older ones. Looks like Brake, Both turn signals, tail lights, Ground and one other I am having a problem tracing-out because of my old eyes. 6 of the 7 pins are being use where others are using just 3 or 4. No back up light though...pretty sure.

Thanks, I did check the diagram and I am now blind but found out the following:

1 is O color Orange goes to Front Turn Right
2 is B/Br color Black/Brown goes to Auxiliary Starter Relay
3 is G color Green goes to battery negative terminal
4 is SB color Sly Blue goes to Hazard Switch, Turn Switch
5 connects to 7 color Brown goes to Speedometer, Odometer Sensor, Relay Fuel Pump
6 is G/Y color Green Yellow goes to the brake brake switch

So there is not reverser light pin in that socket  :(

Just as a reminder (cause I don't want to be annoying), this is my first ever ATV yet I have been getting more familiar with it.  Finally I discovered where the E.C.U is and think I can splice Sky Blue/White wire there to be able to follow your diagram.  Is that a good spot to make the connection?   Also wanted to ask you if this is the relay I need, please check the link.

And one more final question, from the relay I will get the positive lead that goes to the light but where do I get the negative or ground from?

As usual many many thanks in advance.

That relay will work fine. Remember, the skyblue/white is the negative for the relay's coil and the trigger for the relay. Power for the load (that's the light) and the positive side of the coil should come from a "keyed" source..which means when the key is off, there is no power, only when ON. I once put one of these on my Brute Force straight off the battery and backed it out of my shop leaving it in reverse after shut-down over night...yeah..dead battery. Lesson learned. So use the power wire going to the ACC plug for your source. The ground or negative for the light just goes to the frame somewhere.
