2020 CForce 400 top speed
« on: May 25, 2020, 10:27:18 PM »
Hello -- new to the CFMoto brand of ATVs, and considering a new 400. Was curious if anyone out there can tell me what the top speed/max speed is on the 2020 CForce 400 model? Thanks in advance.

I guess this is the same model as the CZ 450 model, which would indicate the top speed is around 60mph/96kmh, but another post references having a limiter removed to achieve this. Is this necessary on the US models, or is the US model 400 good to 60mph or thereabouts? Thanks!

I have the US model Cforce 400 and I’ve gotten 58mph out of it on a long paved road with the stock wheels. Now that it has 26” mud treads, it wouldn’t have a chance, nor would I want it too.
I didn’t have to remove any limiters to achieve this. From what I’ve gathered over several forum posts and other outlets, European models are considered road legal so they have extra regulation attached to them, ie:speed limiters, safety equipment, etc.

One thing that IS annoying in my machine is the shift-lock that requires you to push down the rear brake overly hard to be able to shift your machine.
This can be removed and I plan on doing that soon.

Good luck

Thanks! Thats most helpful. I figured it was some European regulations from the other posts I was reading.  I haven't decided yet. I can't find any real long term reviews. Most of the trail riding I do is rail bed with mixed wood/rocky trails but only small sections. Most of it is high speed wide open road, and not really rocky or rutty.  I appreciate the time you took to respond, its quite helpful. Thank you

I bought a 20 Cforce 400 last week.

Top speed is somewhere in the high 40s. MPH, not KM.

I took off the intake tube and the throttle only opens about 30%, some sort of break in limiter I assume. It is really quite slow as is, still plenty for trail riding but not so much for top speed.

I'm going to talk to the dealer about it later this week, as it should be quite a bit faster than it is.

My 2017 doesn’t have a limiter, never did. I’m not surprised the newer ones do though. Society seems to be moving towards an over the top “safety no matter what” mentality.
Maybe the dealer will remove it after the break in period.

we have two 2019 cforce 400s models.  Both will cruise at over 52mph easily.  but seriously, 50mph on the stock tires if you are on hardpack is not the greatest feeling.  with atv's you need to be careful riding this fast, and if on pavement and there is corners, i don't suggest it until you change from the utility type tires.  Atv's in general can get pretty loose if you have the wrong tires for what you are doing.

I spoke with the dealer yesterday about the speed limiter.

They agreed that the throttle is only opening as far as it can with the factory cast throttle stop. They also said that if that stop were to "disappear" it would not affect my warranty, but they were not willing to disable a factory speed limiter.

I'm going to do away with that limiter and see how much I can get out of it.
