Re: 2015 x400s battery issue?
« Reply #15 on: March 09, 2017, 08:00:30 PM »

Made contact with cfmoto Australia who turns out to be MOJO motorcycles in Victoria Australia who in fact is the main importer for company.

They advised me to take the X400 LE into one of their dealers for inspection pretty standard.

So the bike now has gone for assessment and rectification work hopefully let's see what they come back with in regards to warranty work or $$$$ as its still within its first year of 24 months factory warranty!

Spoke to a platinum dealer and tried to tell me all my concerns were within the first service criteria which I was over due for and not warranty issues, 140kms on the clock and claims I'm over due? He says worst case it's a dealer issue and hadn't been put together properly and seeing my original dealer is non exsistant anymore I will have to pay up his price $558.00 for 1st service does that sound correct???

Let me know if possible, I mean I don't see how it's my fault if I rock up to a dealer and purchase something brand new and get told the more you ride the better it gets I guess that's a bit ignorant on my part but does that put the blame for factory faults in my view on the customer???

Really???

Thanks Tez...

Glad you made contact.
The first service at $558 I can't comment on as I'm not a Aus dealer., but seems High maybe labor more then parts?
First service you should be looking at full bike check over, nuts/bolts/screws. Oil/Filter change, Diff fluid change , grease chassis 4 points.
As for your battery issue, I did have a chat with parts & warranty at Mojo.
They should take care of you.(All customers)
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

Hey thanks Wheels you've been great mate really appreciate all your help and advise again being a part of the crew on the forum is a confidence booster.

Greg was the name of the guy I was corresponding with at MOJO warranty and parts manager, explained all i could to the blokes at sydney city Motorcycles they will go over what needs to be done and relay that back to cfmoto (mojo) Australia and hopefully have it sorted.

They did say that it all seems like warranty issues but weren't to sure bout the battery itself, asked them to push for the battery as well as its under a year old.

Anyways my biggest concerns was the issue with the shifter and low gear engagement did have list prepared also mentioned rerouting the front brake lines as they have been rubbing in the front arms and eventually will give me problems.

I'll wait and see what they come back with.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your advise,so received an update call from the dealer concerning my X400LE, check this.

In regards to the low gear issue and hard lever shifting they have preformed the relevant adjustments same goes for the foot brake issue also, the winch controls and control box on the handle bars have have been rectified and approved by warranty.

Now as for the oil in the airbox compartment the coolant and oil leaks they will not cover any of those issue below 500kms on the clock???

Also they have covered the faulty starter solenoid but denied the battery under warranty!

That's according to the dealer.

Spoke to MOJO again a gentlemen by the name of Steve, explained to him my perspective on the battery being denied warranty and what was their reasons.

Basically I said "if anyone was to purchase a battery new from any manufacturer it would come with at least a year's warranty what's the difference here?" I pushed and end result was that they will call the dealer where the quad is and get their insight on what they have come up with and make a decision.

In regards to the 500kms before considering the coolant and oil leak issues is a bit strange as what if I don't manage to clock up 500kms by the end of my warranty period and the better part of a year has passed?

Thoughts...

Oil in the air box is a recall and should be done free of charge!  There is no waiting period!!!!
The coolant leak they are leaving as I'm guessing it is lightly spitting out the tube, and after a few kms seem to seat themselves. If they don't then they will change it out. It's been recorded so should be no problems in the near future with warranty.
The battery is an ongoing issue with CFmoto, I can't say if they will or not warranty it. I don't work for them.
Good Luck!

I mean I've managed to take the quad out on 3 hunting trips the past year and have the same amount of trips this year to come give and take 1 plus more maybe it's not in constant use annually but still wouldn't expect to have these issues from new and then get such response. Got mates with other brands who have experienced not run into such leaks and had said to them keep running it to see whether it would come good.

Now if it was a honda or yamaha no way.

They did also warranty the front brake lines re-route as that was confirmed as an update.
Not sure what to say about the oil in the airbox issue as again they combined it to the coolant leaks and said needs to have run at least 500kms first before re-evaluation ?

I'll try to buzz them again tomorrow hopefully I can get further with them in regards to this issue.

Thanks for your help.

Keep you posted.

Unfortunately these issues are not good for the one effected but good for others to no I suppose.

Yeah got a mate who has a polaris 400 sportsman I mean he didn't buy it new has had it for a couple of years has had to replace out the battery once and his clutch burnt out on him total cost apparently 1K.

Suprised me but hey if that's what it takes to get the wheels in motion then that's what it takes I suppose.

I can't complain much as mine has been good to me plenty of grunt and features cfmoto just needs to work out these small issues and skies the limit.Although polaris is a bigger name with a little more grunt than the cfmoto in the 400 class theirs a big difference in price here in Australia.

Hope all goes well.

Hey guys,

Just like to get your thoughts on this, received an email from technical/warranty manager Glenn @ mojo/cfmoto Australia stating that they will and approved the replacement of the battery FINALLY! and have emailed my dealer Sydney city motorcycles Campbelltown nsw notifying them. ;D

But was interesting that they also advised me that in the same email they have notified the dealer that the oil breather and waterpump problem will also and have been approved to be fixed through warranty and strongly recommend this issues be rectified as soon as possible, left me scratching my head tbh!!!
