Connecting rods and bearings
« on: May 02, 2023, 10:13:45 PM »
My in-laws ran their 2018 Zforce 1000 with no oil and toasted the connecting rod bearings, I'm replacing piston rings, connecting rods and bearings
Talking to the cf moto dealer near me he sees a connection rod #1 & #2 hes not sure if it's ones front and ones rear or what...he asked me to look for a #1or#2 stamp on them but it dosent have one
Also the bearings are labeled plain, blue and black but no sizes given....my local cf moto dealer doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable on the motor at all but he's trying to help so I guess my question is....what's the difference in the rods and dose anyone know the sizes on the different bearings or the difference if it's not thickness

The service manual should tell you if the rods are different but I would guess they are not...although thumbing through it it only refers to having the lettering "OJYO" face the outer side of the crank on each.. and it should also tell you the differences in bearings/inserts but it is a little vague. I would also suggest that when rod bearings are destroyed by lack of oil, not natural wear, that the cranks are also badly damaged and either need replaced or turned/ground...and in the last case most manufacturers will not have a bearing for that much undersized throw. The three offerings are for new and natural worn throws. I suggest getting a crank kit if one is offered anywhere. That way your efforts won't be wasted. The link below is to my copy of the service manual if you need it. The link will expire is 24 hours so if you need it, download is soon. Good luck.
