Ok so after almost 3 months of waiting the dealer I took my machine to finally has the engine tore down. The extended warranty company refuses to cover repairs because of dirt ingestion. So all repairs are out my pocket. The dealer gave me a ball park figure of 8k for the engine to fixed. Does this sound legit or are they raking me across the coals?
Sounds a little steep. As I recall I looked-up a complete crate engine for my 800 once and it was around 3500. Alpha-sports shows the long block for the 1000s are 2519.98 so..yes, I would say their labor rates are off a bit. I would also say you can do it yourself and save...a ton!
So where did this dirt come from? Got by their POS airfilter? That should be covered. Otherwise they need to prove where it came from and that it was something you did , not the machine. Telling you man, you need to plant your feet hard with some dealers. Not all.
