I pulled the CVT cover today and don't see anything wrong other than some dust.  I'm not gonna pull the clutches because I don't have the proper tools, so I just blew the dust out of them and am checking things out.  Can I spray anything with brake cleaner, the sliders etc?  And do they require any lube?  Belt looks to be in great shape, no burnt spots or glazing, and the clutches operate fine when I start it up and spin them up a bit.

Nothing..don't spray anything cause it can wash dust into pools and buildup in places it shouldn't. No lube anywhere. Check the torques if you can.

Thanks, I didn't spray anything, just blew the dust out of them.  I'm still getting the belt chirp, in high gear only, not all the time but it's never done it before last weekend.  Think I'll look into a new belt, there's 3000km on this one.

I also changed the oil in the rear diff, it didn't look bad but probably didn't hurt it to change it.  No water or metal in it, just the normal flecks I'd expect.  While doing this, I may have found something that has a non-zero chance of being the source of my coasting on rough hills clunk.... My damned trailer hitch!  It's loose enough that it kinda bounces around, similar sound but I can't be sure until I've driven some regular trails with it removed.  I'm not confident this is it but I will see.

Just a side note, my stinger fit loose enough that it bounced around making enough noise that I could hear it. I switch-out the pin for a 5/8" bolt with washers and lock washer, tighten it down enough to stop the movement and all that noise stopped.

That's a great idea, I think maybe I'll do that.  My buddy got a chance to use a brand new Cforce 1000 on our trip last weekend, and I noticed it has a nut welded to the top of the receiver with a bolt that can be tightened down to hold the hitch tight.  I thought about something like that but your idea is much easier and quicker.  Thanks!

For the last while I've had a clunk from somewhere in my drivetrain.  I originally thought for sure it was from the rear diff, but now I'm not sure if it's the diff, the transmission, or maybe even the secondary clutch.  It does it upon engagement when I'm taking off if I don't ease into it super carefully, but also does it pretty bad when I'm coasting on a rough hill, and not using engine braking.  If I keep the clutch engaged to use engine braking it seems fine.  It's almost like there's too much play somewhere in the driveline.  If I rock it back and forth by hand while in park there is a bit of a clunk but not as bad as when I'm driving it.  It works fine when moving at any speeds, it's just the initial point of take off (and the coasting down hills).  All diff bolts are tight, and it doesn't move.  I feel like it started after I had some gears and the shift forks replaced by dealer (known problem with some 2018 1000s, causing it to not engage in gear properly and grind), but I can't really recall.

Also, as of yesterday I sometimes get a single chirp out of the belt on take off, it has never done this before.  Is the chirp a sign I need a belt, or something else?  I just rolled over 3000kms yesterday and I have not touched anything in the clutches, dealer has probably been in there when doing the mentioned repair but never changed a belt.  I should probably pull the CVT cover to check things out and clean it up, but I'm kinda curious if any of you fine folks have an idea of what I have going on with the clunking, or if I should just send it back in to the dealer (not what I really want to do yet, because I'm afraid they'd have it for weeks possibly and I'm running out of time to use it before the snow flies and the trails around here become groomed sled trails).  Thanks

I have this exact issue on mine. This forum thread early on was discussing it well then the thread went off topic later.

Can I ask us to revisit this again?

I have a 2020 cforce 800 cc which is doing it.

The clunking noise?  I can't help you other than to say mine still does it under the same conditions (coasting down hill mainly) and I still don't know what it is.  Buddy of mine also has a cforce 800XC and he says his does it too, so maybe just a cfmoto thing?  Not sure but I don't like it.

I was told by my dealer that it is back lashing in the gears which is needed to prevent them from being ripped apart when changing to four wheel drive. I get that backlashing is required but I sure dont like how it sounds engaging.
