2017 Z800 died after wash
« on: October 14, 2023, 02:18:35 PM »
Hey guys, I need some help.

2017 Z800 died after a vigorous wash with the pressure washer.

It started up after, drove about 15 feet then died like someone disconnected the battery. No power, no dash lights, nothing.

I let it sit for a minute, tried again and it started, then died again. This happened about 3 times then stayed dead.

It has a fairly new battery, but I put it on a charger to double check and it was full.

The battery terminals were tight, no issues there.

I recall reading something about people having issues with a main fuse, but couldn't remember the location on a z800?

Could that be the issue, and would it kill all power if it were?

Thanks!

You can check the main fuse - it's in the rear floor compartment under the driver's seat. But the Chinese have no clue how to make any connection or switch water proof so all the switches on the dash including the key switch can get water in them and well as all the connectors to everything every where else with enough force applied. Focus on where you blasted the most water and the closest and look there first for wet connectors. And if you blasted the dash...well it will be tough to get the water out of the switches before it corrodes the contacts but a hair dryer will help...a little.

Thanks for the response. I took a leaf blower to everywhere I sprayed for a good 20 mins. Still no luck.

Do you know if there are any particular switches or areas that if got wet could cause the symptoms I've described? it was almost like someone was disconnecting the battery...

Did you pull that cover and check the main fuse? That compartment may not drain sometimes.
