Everyone,

Now that the forum as been live for nearly a month and you've had some time to use it; tell me what you like and what you'd like to see improved.  I tried to cover as much functionality - while maintaining a clean look and feel - as possible during the design and build with Alex, but we're always looking for suggestions to make things even better.

I'm looking forward to your responses,

Jason

The only thing I see that I like on other sites is a way to bring up just new posts sense your last visit or a more positive way to see where new posts are. I see a slight color change in the category icon where a new post is..maybe a slightly stronger color change. :)

You mean something like what I've attached?

It doesn't display on mobile, which is an issue, but I am looking into adding this menu, or at the very least, the New Posts/Replies link somewhere in the future.

If you're needing it in mobile, the address is simply cfmoto-forum.com/unread

If you've got any more questions or you were talking about something else, please let me know.

Thanks,

Alex

@murdo @NMKawierider

Both of you asked questions regarding the Recent Posts link. As of today, I have implemented the account section, including those links, for mobile.

I don't know if it is just me, but I can't seem to use the smileys!

You are 100% correct. I believe we have a simple issue with mapping. I will look into it and let you know when it is fixed. Thanks for bringing this up, @mayor hal

Hey @bezerk1, could you give me a little more detail or an example of what you're requesting?

Simple Machines calls it "Recent Posts".  Supported on 2.0  and above.

I actually was working on implementing that. There's an issue with how our theme implements it that will take some coding to fix. I will keep you posted.

Hey @bezerk1. I've fixed the issue with the posts not showing. To view this, you simple needs to look at the bottom of the index/home page (AKA the Info Center).

I've got it set to show the 20 most recent posts. Do you think that is a reasonable number or too few/too many?

Does this meet your request or would you like something else?

Alex

Here's a weird thing. Now when I click on my user name in the top bar it no longer has a drop-down menu with the new posts and stuff.

Try simply hovering rather than clicking.

Nope. Just highlights it. Also, clicking on the "Actions" to quote has no dropdown list any more. I was going log-out and back in but I don't have that either.

Nope, can't log-out to reset. Deleted the cookies but no dice. Drop-downs don't seem to be working. I am on a P/C not a tablet.

UPDATE: Its all back. Thanks

can we add the x6 as cat. I did come across the service manual for the cf500 (pre x5) and the x6 (cf625-b) but I'm still trying to find the best way to post them.

The X6 board is available now under the CForce category @Cosmosdan.

Can we have location added to user accounts so that it shows in posts?

Location is now available if you wish to display it.  Hover over your profile drop-down in the upper-right of the screen and click edit profile.  The entry field will be at the bottom of your edit profile screen.

I got one. People are posting on a vender board (SuperATV) but I don't have that option. Why? Can everywhere else.

@NMKawierider you should have the ability to now.  It was a setting that I overlooked when creating board permissions.  Thanks for bringing this up.

Sounds like the new 400/450 is showing up at dealers, not the us yet, and it might be nice to add another cat. for them. Would be nice to have a place for the new owners to come and share some info.

I got one. When anyone inserts a smiley, it and the text are placed in a scrollable text box that has no header or footer so the text has to be scrolled through to view and if it's only one line, it's always covered and has to be scrolled to see. Can these be edited to have large enough headers and footers to view all the text or the boxes auto-size themselves to expose all the text..maybe with a blank line above and below the text?

@NMKawierider can you link me to an example on the forum? Not sure I am following, so would probably be easier for me to see one than for me to assume.

Thanks,
Alex

The 500HO is called the 550 in other countries. Can we / that category. Also they have replaced the z6 with the z5/zforce 550. Might have to add a category for that one now.

Alex, many of the photos that are uploaded as attachments are being displayed sideways or even upside down. Could this be from a display input of something like 640x480 being switch to 480x640 or some other input in display parameters? When you click on a sideways image or the attachment file, it is correct, just not as viewed in posts.

@NMKawierider please link me a post displaying some photos that are doing this so I can get an answer for you. It may or may not be something we can control (I don't want to make core component changes to the forum software, but am willing to make some style changes if I can figure out what is causing it and am able to write a style change).

I'll see if I can find some, For some reason now when I click on the attachment file it still comes up rotated where it didn't on all of them before.
