When I did my Griz, I used these flexible intake hoses from Advance Auto and Auto Zone, along with some rubber elbows and adapters from the same places. I used 3" radiator hose and rubber elbows for my uprights.

These are very flexible and can expand and collapse from 12" to 28". They also stand the heat pretty good. They are kind of easy to tear or cut.

Very true. Although, Most of those companies use a thinner tube and im gonna guess blow molded to keep the amount of parts to a minimum. I personally would just do a PVC/ABS and be done with it, but you also have those guys who just want a kit and be done with it.

There is a guy on the CFMoto UK Owners FB page that removed the stock airbox and put in a Maverick 1000 Turbo airbox in his, they snorkeled from there. it looks awesome AND the airbox is a MUCH better design.

I've never used a kit before, but I've read that they use the same PVC that DIYers use, and that often you still have to do a lot of cutting. Basically, you just get the materials, about $50 dollars worth of PVC for about $300, but you still have to do all the work. I've even read that sometimes you still have to buy extra stuff that's not in the kit. When I snorkeled my Grizzly, I did it all myself.

Don't get me wrong...I love to do my own mods and will not use..however, the cvt is the only thing that I am drawing a blank on as to what would be the best way to do it. (oval openings). Also can't decide what I want to do with airbox.   I just have taken emersonsc 's advice and started emailing some companies to get the ball rolling on some parts.

I am a Moderator on MudInMyBlood.com a pure mudders forum and when they need to do anything like that they use rubber fittings. The conform to any need and there are many angles and reducer types available. Also with PVC or ABS, you can do may things with heat such as make it oval, filled with sand make bends & arks...ect. Many one piece items can be made and without special tools or equipment.

I'm almost done with snorkeling the air intake and will tackle the other intakes soon.  As for making plastic fit the odd shaped holes for the cvt and such, thinner plastic and a heat gun is the trick.  I work with plastics everyday and heating them up to form them does take a little practice, but worth trying out before buying any expensive kit. 

As for mine, I'll be painting the pvc and metal to make everything match.  I also would like to do a pre-filter because  I don't trust this aftermarket one I got off Ebay.  The cone has a screen mesh at the end of it which I seems like it would defeat the purpose of the actual filter, causing the air to mostly go through that instead of all around the cone.  I think I may cap that off.   But either way I want to put a prefilter inside and behind the intake opening. 

I don't trust the thin accordion tubing so putting the sheet metal around it is just for protection (and heat shield).   The only thing I'm really wondering about is if I should keep the plastic outer shield that goes over the original air box on, or leave it off.  I like the idea of having more airflow in the engine area, but mud rocks and sticks getting in that part now exposed may cause some issues.  any thoughts on that?

Cool. I'm not sure which way to go with the cover...other them offer this one thought. When you go deep enough to actually need the snorkel, I really don't think that cover will make much difference. But for just messing around, if it will keep chunks of mud and stuff out of that area...I think I would at least put it on..cause it sure would ne a PITA to clean that out, even with a pressure washer.

Nice progress!!  Can't wait to see how the rest turns out...I just came in from the garage starring at that filter box wondering to ditch it or keep it...I did pop it open to find a mess of dust....Just ordered the Uni...I also was searching for a heat gun on amazon...guess I will give it a try....is that 2 or 3 inch piping @wexy21?

I raised my CVT exhaust up about a foot. I used the original rubber coupling on the oval shaped CVT exhaust port. I turned it upward, but made sure to turn the clamp the same way as original. The rubber conformed, and the clamp sealed up good. It should not be hard to get rubber couplers to work on the oval shaped ports.

When I get this done the cover over the flexible tubing will be completely sealed so that water can't get in, and also easily removable from the throttle body.  I only put that on because the flexible tube is pretty thin and after pulling sticks and small branches out from everywhere, I don't want to chance anything breaking it. 

The carbon fiber tube is 3" dia and the hole I cut is 4", which I may have to make a little bigger once I get the large rubber gasket I found on ebay in the hole.  I want my snorkel to be flexible but not come loose, so the only point where it will be attached will be at the roll cage. 

I have some ideas on making plastic tubes fit around the rectangular openings for the other snorkels, but will need to find some thinner 3" dia plastic first. I don't want to use pvc.

When I did my intake mod and going from 1.9" to 3" intake it only improved the running and did not cause it to go too lean. However when I did the exhaust mod and had it straight 2" with no spark arrester, that's when it leaned too far. After installing an HMF spark arrester its fell back into its operational range...but just barely. If I ever need to go below 4500 feet I will have to put the stock pipe back in or get a programmer.

So I say don't worry about the snorkel. Do your machine and yourself a favor and get that intake out of there...and seal that grill off like I did.

As they have not changed the intake system or the filter, you will want to at least get the replacement filter in hand to install as soon as you bring it home. How often you will need to clean it will depend on your riding conditions however because of the intake's actual location and how much dust gets thrown in that area from the tires...and the heat of the air being taken in, you will most likely want to relocate it some time in the future. For now, just keep the crap out of the engine with a good filter...and service it correctly and as often as needed.
