Is it damaging to be in 4x4 hi range the whole time while in the dunes? And do you have to engage and disengage while stopped or will it match on the fly? I want to get paddles, does anyone have experience with paddles on their zforce?

The front diff will tent to run hotter and may leak some fluid but in general it wouldn't..or shouldn't be damaging. Just don't use the diff-loc. You can shift on the fly however you must always be under 12 MPH and not on or off the gas..ie be in a neutral state. Once it has shifted, and you can see that on the dash, it is always a good idea to "blip" the throttle once to ensure it is either fully seated or out of 4wd before applying power.

As for sand and paddles, some do it but report the sand robs so much power from the 800 that many quit doing it. Many say unless you have at least 100 HP don't bother with sand/dunes...and the 800 is about 63. But..maube a good set of paddles would make the difference.

We took it out to the dunes, still under break in period so we didnt get to play very much but actually pretty impressed, the sand was dense and wet but even with the suspension still factory set (very stiff) and all 4 tires with stock 15 psi it did just fine, there were a few climbs that we were playing on that I had to use 4x4 but man it was fun, especially using the winch on the first trip to pull out a rzr 1000, had a blast, maybe I'll make a new topic about sand if there isnt already?
Maybe having different terrain subjects? Just pitching ideas, this seems to be a great forum for us that dont have alot of other resources to get information from, cfmoto not very popular in the Pacific northwest

Yes, definitely. Sand is always different and so is O2 levels so everyone's experience will be different. I'm at 5400 feet here and that's already 20..something percent less power then at sea level so when I get on the dunes here...well, its not all that fun..even with all my mods and clutch work.

BTW most of us run between 7-10psi tire pressure. Not sure how that will effect it in sand out there though.
