PTO

Not sure what made me think of the old Yamaha Terrapro, but I did notice Cfmoto offered a 500 farm model with all the brush guards and such. I was wondering if anyone had spent some time with the old Terrapro and if something like it in a modern version wouldn't be a bad thing to have. Mower, snowblower, tiller and fun toy all in one. I know that you can get pull behind mowers and the like but I hate taking care of more engines than I have to.

My neighbor has a Terrapro.  It's in mint condition.  I think it even has cruise control.

I was hoping someone would make a new one. The old ones are cool but parts are hard to find and the attachments are even worse. I think there would be a market again for these if they had all the new improvements atvs have had over the years.

Interesting, I have been thinking on putting a 48" mower on the front of my 500.

A brush hog would be great to have. My thing is more engines, more problems. A shaft pto front and back on something like an atv would open up a world of possibilities for attachments with lower cost and less maintenance.

I have the mower from my Kubota tractor that is getting old and rough for me to ride (arthritis), that is PTO driven and had ideas of fitting two more swivel wheels and a Honda engine, mounting it in front of the quad.
I made a similar three cutter head 6' one with Honda 25hp V twin engine years ago for a Bobcat that worked well.
I like the thought of being able to use my quad for other things, and having a PTO would be a great idea.

Share what you come up with. If I come up with the parts I was going to make a pull behind mower. I did make a brush cutter out of a push mower. I still have to test it out.

Polaris makes something already like what your talking about so does bobcat the have pto and hydraulics on them the Polaris is the Brutus and I can't remember which model the bobcat is but they are both pretty awsome machines believe they are both diesel or have the option to be also.

I did see the Brutus and got sticker shock. I just think that something like the Terrapro may have been ahead of its time or the tech at that time made it hard to reach the concepts full potential. What I would like to see is a regular sized atv with pto front and back. The shaft engagement should be electronic. Cost of the various attachments should be less than that of the pull behind type that are on the market now because of the lack of needing a engine. I don't think this will happen anytime soon. Just dreaming of a Swiss army knife ATV that is affordable.
