I had a bit to do with Joyner UTVs a while back and there were a lot of negative comments about the Joyner Trooper T4. It looked like it was as long as a bus & it almost was, but it was still a very capable vehicle. They will get beached easier than single cabs, but as we have seen with UTV racing you can achieve a more stable vehicle, like the RZR-4 did. Keep the length down, go with wider & tougher axles, greater height but lower center of gravity, increase the cc and you have got a beast. Get it right and you will sell plenty.
One thing I loved about Joyner was they used automotive engines. Most UTV big brands have developed their engines from their motorbike and ATV engines. A 3 cylinder engine like Yamaha's YXZ 1000 from their snowmobile lineup is a step in the right direction. I'd go a step further and run with a 4 cylinder car engine. UTVs are now small 4x4 cars made mostly by powersports manufactures. If G.M did build a UTV, what do you think would be their power plant? A 1500cc turbo charged diesel sounds great.
If CF Moto is going to manufacture a double cab or engineer a 1000cc they will end up with something pretty good. The danger that I can see is bigger UTV models with smaller engines tweaked. That ain't good in the long run, you've got to have more pots pushing out the power for bigger UTVs. If CF Moto can come up with a small double cab with a 1000cc engine with with more width (axle not body), lower seating and greater travel, power to weight could still be great.
