Sense new mine sometimes when I put it into reverse and just touch the gas, it dies.. like I hit the kill switch. I touch the key in reverse and it's running again like nothing happened. Does this every 3rd or 4th time I put it in reverse. Just a PITA now but someday I will be in a pickle and that action may be a game-changer. Anyone else have this happen? Any idea why it's happening?

I noticed this too.  While mine has never stalled it does cut out for a split second like its going to.  I wonder if its some kind of safety feature to allow easier shifting into reverse.  I know top speed is limited when diff lock is engaged.  Maybe there is some kind of limit in reverse?

Yeah there is a reverse limiter in reverse and in diff-loc and I see that the override button works on both but mine just dies when I touch the gas after putting it into reverse. It idles fine but as soon as there is any movement of the throttle it's dead. But not all the time...and like I say, it starts right back up no matter where the gas is or the shifter. Got to be something in the ECU.

Does your reverse indicator light work properly?.  Does it shift easily into other gears? What I'm getting at is there a mis adjustment of the shifter?  There has to be a gear position indicator that feeds back to the ECU.  I would think.  The ECU needs feedback of gear position to limit RPM, speed, timing, and other parameters.  I would think.  I don't know this as fact.

I don't know about others but mine is tough to shift if there is any load on the gears and at times I have to bump the throttle to get it to move. The indicator lights seem to work right but I do see if I pull it into Park and go a little more, the park light goes off...and the alignment on the shifter detents does seem off a little. I may try aligning the linkage and see if that makes any difference.

Mine also doesn't shift well on anything but almost level ground. Hard shifting to park or low too!

I'm told that it's because of the way the trany gears fit and when they get broke-in and get some shine to them they shift easier. Still waiting for that to happen but mine has less then 300 miles on it so far.

In any case, I also think they need to work on the shifter some. Others aren't having this issue.

Your problems may not have been the same as mine but check out my issues post on the z6. I wold think they used the type of set up. might lead you to start looking in the right direction.

Mine hasn't died, but it does hesitate sometimes when I give it some gas in reverse. I thought maybe it was a little bit lean in the mix or something. It could be something electrical.

That may have something to do with the rev limiter. Hold down the over ride and see if it quits. My issue may also be related as it only does it in reverse. Think I'll hold the O.R. down when reverse or by pass it to see if my problem stops.

Around the first oil change youll need to check and adjust the shifting linkage. This is normal. These are mechanical transmissions. They arent like a car.

I have notice mine cut out a few times when trying to go forward or in reverse, but ive only noticed this when my fuel level is real low. These EFI system dont like to run below an 1/8th of a tank, and really you dont want to any way. you start getting that low and you suck all the junk from the bottom of the tank into your fuel system.

One time the first time I rode it, I went to climb a rock and got a few inches up it then it cut out. once or twice when I went to pull onto or off of my trailer. Then last weekend it did it as I was approaching a hill climb right at the bottom as I started to go up it cut out, these all happen at low rpm just at idle or coming off idle. NMK did you find an issue? I also noticed what I think it the oil pressure light come on for a couple seconds then go off, do these relate? I'm not sure if the oil light came on every time or not. My oil is fresh clean and full. The light to the left of the 4x4 indicator, I think that is the oil pressure light but I couldn't find it in my manual.

I never did find out what the problem was but it is happening less and less as time goes on. For me it is only when it put it in reverse and touch the gas..its like I hit the kill switch. It always starts right back up but..someday it will happen at a critical moment I'm afraid. As for the oil pressure light...I hadn't noticed. Its the red one in the upper row that matters. The other one that's just an oil can symbol is the reminder.

Yup, mine does too. Not as frequent, but it has several times in the 500 mile span.  No rhyme or reason.  When hot, cold, after idle, and after running a bit.

Yeah nothing in common other then the act of putting it in reverse. Even then it only does it when I touch the gas.
