Steering wheel alignment
« on: November 06, 2015, 09:16:21 PM »
Has anyone else noticed their steering wheel losing alignment with the wheels?  When my wheels are straight, the steering wheel is not. I checked the tires and front linkage, nothing is loose or bent . Could it be something in the power steering that jumped?  Not sure how it connects to the EPS.  I will post pics tomorrow.

I noticed on a customers CForce that his steering linkage got REALLY sloppy after about 250 miles. ended up having to replace the U-joint that connects the steering stem to the EPS Driver (motor). I have a Non-EPS Zforce and my steering has a bit of play in it now, but ive got almost 1200 miles on mine.

I found that I had a couple of loose bolts on the splined sections of my shafts that were starting to make the splined get some movement. Thankfully I caught them before they wouldn't tighten back up or jump. Still.. strangely, when sitting there with the wheel straight of both sides the steering wheel is off center slightly...but not during driving. I think I need to check my toe setting for sure.

I would check all bolts up front and make sure there tight. I had an a arm bolt come loose and throw my alignment off a bit.

Have you had any luck repairing this problem?  I have the same issue with my steering wheel.

I did tighten up some of the spline joints and the play has gone away.  The wheel is better aligned also.   Might have to fine tune it a bit.
