I used this Donaldson Canister filter (G057512) which features a cyclonic pre-filter(85% particles are separated and ejected before going through the main filter) and a "safety filter" to allow tool-less "in the field" changes of the primary without allowing debris into the intake port:

The snorkel kit that I modified to add the Donaldson filter:

I am using this UNI foam filter (that is highly recommended) in the main box for added redundant protection:

This is the vacuum indicator I installed on the intake port that tells you when the filter needs to be replaced (without needing to open the canister):

Thanks NMK! I was initially inspired by reading about your adventures in filtration and snorkeling! Thanks for all the helpful posts and "how to"content that you share! I really appreciate it! ;D

Is that snorkel kit for the engine and the CVT? It looks nice, how was it to install? does it replace the weirdly bend original engine air filter tube to the air box?

Yes it does snorkel the CVT intake and output on the left (driver's side) and yes it replaces the weird engine intake tube from behind the center grill. The installation is moderately difficult and the instructions were not very thorough and detailed. I am not a mechanic but also not an idiot when it comes to mechanical stuff so I think most "mechanically inclined" people will be fine DIY, but it will be time consuming and and a bit frustrating figuring out the install from the instructions. I made a few mistakes that I had to correct before the installation was completed correctly.

So, now that you have had it awhile, does it help keep the main filter clean longer?  Your setup is very clean looking.  I am struggling with your system or NMK's.  Anything to not have to go into the main filter after each ride.

Yes it does, and NMK'S set up does  also. NMK has a filter on the CVT intake as well, where mine does not. I am relying on the back facing elevated snorkel to reduce debris into the CVT (but it is not filtered). My set up was more focused on protection of the motor, with redundant filtration and easy serviceability, to avoid a blown motor. One advantage that my set up has is quick and easy tool-less change (<30 seconds) of the primary filter in the Donaldson canister in ANY conditions. It has a "safety filter" inside the primary allowing me to change it inside a tornado of dust WITHOUT allowing any debris into the intake. NMK's is better protection for the CVT and mine allows "in the field" change of the motor filter easily and risk free. Both are much better than stock... With different prioritized advantages...

Do you have a pic or a link to the separator?
