Need a belt for zforce 800
« on: October 28, 2015, 06:41:09 PM »
Help me out here -- I wrecked my belt on my 800 ZForce when I got it wet last weekend. I have under 200 miles on my machine. I found a Gates belt that was only $50 that I plan on using as a back up, but would like a Dayco belt. I saw somewhere on the forum that the Dayco belt is the XTX2261, but can't find it anywhere. The belt from the dealer is $264 which is INSANE! Wondering if anyone out there has any experience with belts for these machines.

My experience with Dayco is such that I will never buy another one of their belts...ever. And yeah I see the OEM belt is 189 where I get my parts. I also have to say that historically, no aftermarket belt holds a candle to any OEM so that 50-dollar gates may not even get you home.

Here's a link to the parts house I use:

How hard is it to change just the belt?
Got over 500 miles on mine and the top speed tacked out is down to 38mph lol :)
Think it's time lol

WTF 38mph I have like 400 miles and I can get it up to 71mph but if you think it's the belt it's not that hard to do there's a few write up on how to do

I've had good luck with gates, but I do have customers who swear by dayco. I have both the gates and dayco in stock and can get an OEM if you'd like one.

Just and FYI, CFMoto has seemed to have changed vendors for their belts. The $200 plus belt has been replaced with a cheaper belt. I have ordered any because I can't justify charging a customer close to $200 for a Chinese belt when I can get them a higher quality belt for half the price.

Just my two cents.

To my knowledge, there is only three things clutch & belt- related that can cause a reduction in speed. 1- the belt is very glazed from slipping. This slipping also destroys the clutch sheave surfaces. 2- On these types of systems if the belt looses it's guage..ie it's width from excessive dirt or abrasives being run through it, the full shift-out ratio can not be obtained. 3- Some part of the clutch system is binding and won't allow full shiftout.  Of course the wet clutch could have a problem...but let's not think that right now.

Need to pull the cover and inspect...everything.

Just a hair off topic here but I notice everyone quoting XX MPH.  Just to let you know that, at least my speedometer is off by at least 15% fast. ie: 50 MPH = 42.5 MPH on GPS.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this?

Tested mine, im off by an MPH or two, but thats normal. 15% is a huge difference. You might look into getting a new sensor.

Pretty sure it's the belt. It's been wet a few times lol
But outside of top speed everything else is normal.  Plenty of power, nothing seems to be slipping, ; just tops out at a lower speed.
Pretty sure it's the belt. Going with a bunch of buddy's tomorrow up to tall pines atv park to put another 75 miles or so on, new belt isn't here yet so I'm just gonna run her! Lol
Plenty of pals to tow me back to the trailer lol
Last ride before the new baby gets here so gotta go out with a bang! Lol

Use a gps and check, you will find the speed sensor is not always correct.
Most ready faster then real speed. And change  there +/- on the fly.

Have any of you tried the Gates or Dayco belts on the Z8? I'm afraid I may be needing one soon.
