Trust us...you do not want any CFM air filters on your machine...period. The UniFilter for the 1000s is in the information center.

Could someone post a link to where they are getting their unifilters from? I went to their website and all they have are 2 1/4" intake ones. From what I hear, I'll need 2 1/2"?

That's the one I was planning to get, after seeing it mentioned a few times.  Did you need any adapters or anything like that, or was it just a straight replacement?

It was just a straight replacement. It came with the clamp and I believe I turned the adapter around to the opposite direction. Just remember to purchase the oil for the filter and oil it before installation. I found the UNI oil in the spray can was excellent to work with.

Thanks, that's what I'm doing then!  I wonder if K&N filter oil is any good for these filters?  I've got that here in a spray can.

NO!! K&N oil is for gauze filters and is just a light oil where foam filter oil is not just oil, but designed to coat all the cell surfaces then dry to a tacky resin to stay in place and collect particles as the air passes over the surfaces. Plain oil won't do that and will migrate downward over time leaving the top side cells with no coating...and making a mess of your airbox...as well as coating your air temp sensor/ mass airflow sensor with oil. Just use a quality foam filter oil...and it's cleaner. I along with many others found and trust Maxima Fab-1 to be a good choice.

Got it, stay away from the K!  Thanks.  I don't even have anything with a K&N filter, I've just always used it to clean and oil the filters on my nitro RC trucks.  And thanks for the tip on the Maxima oil, it's way cheaper than Uni oil.  Got it in my Amazon cart now along with the filter.

New guy.  No trustworthy local tech support (dealer couldn't even change the crankcase oil since it wasn't the same as the 800).  I have a 1000 which might be the only one here in Korea. I have a replacement uni-filter, I have filter oil, I have tools.  I have waited too long to change the air filter.  I have no mechanical skills whatsoever.  Short of a hacksaw, how do I get the original filter off the adapter?  I've pulled and twisted with no success and don't want to break the adapter as I'd have to order one and wait forever for it to get here.  If taking a hacksaw to the old filter is the right answer, I can do that.  If finding someone strong to pull harder than I can, I can do that too.  Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with this.

They are tight, make sure you have the clamp loosened completely.

I had the clamp completely removed.  Try to work under the seal with a screwdriver to loosen it up?  Or is that a bad idea?

Thanks

Just did this job this past weekend. The flange that sits in the filter is ribbed making it very hard to get the flange out. I stuck a flat head screwdriver in between the filter and flange and pried it out with no problems.
